Senior QA Engineer

Location: Durham, NC

Job type: Full-time

Industry: Computer Software

Description:

Do you want to help create a world-class testing culture?

BlueStripe Software, a well-funded startup in the enterprise systems management market, is looking for Senior QA Engineers. If you have the rare combination of deep technical talent and a passion for testing, we want you to join us.

We take software quality seriously. Although we're a very small startup, we have high-end practices, such as continuous builds, a fully automated end-to-end smoke test, heavy usage of developer unit testing, and a system testing automation framework. We've even invested in an excellent and enjoyable bug tracking system. Most importantly, our QA engineers are involved early in the development lifecycle, contributing to requirements discussions.

As a Senior QA Engineer, you'll be responsible for crafting testing approaches that minimize shipment risk. You'll create repeatable benchmarks for our product's performance. You'll design automated regression tests for specific features. You'll work closely with the development team creating our multi-tier product. As an early employee, you'll also help set our testing culture.

You must have experience testing complicated systems, e.g., a multi-tier product line, an operating system kernel, or a virtual machine. We write our code in C and Java, so some knowledge of these languages is a plus. You'll be installing and configuring a number of enterprise software products like databases and application servers, so broad experience in this realm is also a bonus. We develop software with an agile mindset, so you'll need to have a similar philosophy - exploratory testers are encouraged. Finally, cross-platform skills are a requirement - at a minimum you'll need to have experience with basic Windows and Unix administration.

We offer salary and equity compensation, family medical and dental coverage, and a 401(k). Our offices are located in Research Triangle Park, NC.
