Senior UI Engineer

Job type: Full-time
Industry: Computer Software
Description:
Do you want to help build a great company and product? BlueStripe Software is a Sand Hill Road VC funded enterprise systems management startup looking for a Lead UI Engineer to build innovative GUI products. We take UI seriously - we read Tufte, hire visual design consultants, and spend the extra time to make a table of line charts sortable.
As Lead UI Engineer, your chief responsibility will be to design and build foundational UI technology for our current product and planned product line. You will work on a daily basis with our highly skilled team of Interaction Designers and Product Managers. You will strive for simple, coherent designs at the code and interface level. You will build and test your own code - no architecture astronauts allowed! We're a startup, so you'll be wearing lots of other hats, too. Depending on your background and interests, you might work on product definition plans, assist with partnering activities, help ramp up our technical field force, or write some technical documentation.
You must have experience building complicated, dynamic user interfaces. Bonus points for any systems management background. You must have experience with Java and Swing. You'll also need to have completed a BS in Computer Science.
We offer salary and equity compensation, family medical and dental coverage, and a 401(k).

The Mission: The Bluestripe mission is to eliminate the roadblocks and guesswork of migrating and managing transactional applications on virtual server platforms.
The Solution: The BlueStripe solution will enable IT staff to manage performance of applications by fact versus conjecture when virtualization is involved. We provide the real map of the transactional application, its connections and dependencies, physical and virtual, as well as measuring the health and performance of the flow of transactions through the IT infrastructure.
The Team: All four founders hail from Wily Technology, the Gartner Magic Quadrant Leader for Java EE Application Performance Management. From 2000 to 2007 we grew revenues from $0 to $110M, and were acquired by CA in 2006 for $390M. CEO Chris Neal was the Wily VP Field Operations for the Americas during this seven year period. He has over 14 years of enterprise software sales leadership experience, including Oracle & NetDynamics (Acquired by Sun Microsystems). COO Vic Nyman was recruited to Wily out of Tivoli in late 1999 as an SVP, with the goal of shaping a technology innovation into a sellable business model. Vic Nyman left Wily in 2005 to become CEO of Relicore, an application change and configuration company which was purchased by Symantec. Vic has over twenty years of enterprise software experience in various leadership and executive roles. Chief Architect John Bley was principal engineer at Wily and one of the two individuals responsible for the core Wily product architecture. VP of Business Development John Whittington has over 15 years of enterprise software sales and business development experience.
